Map of Kauai ahupua'a

Ahupua'a were Divisions of land starting at the tops of the ridges and going all the way to the outside edge of the reef. They contained everything needed to support the people living within them.  Some people spent their whole lives never leaving their ahupua'a.  It can be seen there there are an incredible number.  Today we still use the following.
